Trading With Naira: Deposits, Cash-Out and Withdrawals Explained

Two wallets, one account

Every Tradebanta account holds a Naira (NGN) wallet and a US Dollar (USD) wallet. In Nigeria you will live in the Naira wallet: fund it, trade it, withdraw from it. The USD wallet is there when you want globally priced markets.

You can switch the active wallet whenever you like. Prices are probabilities, so a market reads exactly the same in either currency — only the amounts change.

Getting money in

Funding the Naira wallet is a regular bank transfer. Your wallet shows the account details to send to, from any Nigerian bank or fintech app. When the transfer lands, the balance appears and is immediately tradable.

Two habits worth keeping:

  • Start with an amount you would not mind losing while you learn how positions move.
  • Fund from an account in your own name — it keeps the withdrawal side simple later.

Trading in Naira

Stake, price, position value and payout are all shown in Naira. A ₦500 trade on a YES at 40% behaves exactly like the same trade in any other currency; you just read it in the money you actually think in.

Your portfolio shows each open position, what it is currently worth, and what it pays if your side is right.

Cashing out early

You do not have to wait for settlement. If the price has moved your way, cash out and bank the gain. If it has moved against you, cash out and keep part of your stake instead of losing all of it.

A worked example:

  • You take YES at 40% with ₦500.
  • Team news lands and the price rises to 65%.
  • You cash out. You realise most of the move without knowing the final result.

That is the entire skill: deciding when the price has already paid you enough.

The identity check

Before your first Naira withdrawal, you complete a quick identity verification, and the destination bank account name is checked against your details.

It is not paperwork for its own sake. It is what makes sure that only you can move money out of your account — even if someone else somehow reached your session.

Getting money out

Withdrawals are requested from your wallet and paid to your verified Nigerian bank account. Points to know:

  • The account must be in your own name.
  • You can only withdraw funds that are not committed to open positions.
  • Every request is recorded in your transaction history, so you always have a trail.

Frequently hit snags

"My deposit hasn't shown." Bank transfers can lag. Check your transactions list first — if the transfer left your bank and the wallet has not updated, contact support with the reference.

"My withdrawal was rejected." Almost always a name mismatch between the bank account and your verified identity. Fix the account details and retry.

"Why can't I withdraw everything?" Money sitting in open positions is not free cash. Cash out or wait for settlement.

Keeping it sane

Balances move faster than habits do. Set a monthly amount you are willing to risk, keep individual stakes small, and use the responsible-trading settings whenever you want a hard limit rather than willpower.
