Prediction Markets by Country: What Differs and What Does Not
The market is global; the rules, the payment rails and the currency are local. Here is what changes when you cross a border — and what to check before you fund an account.

One global book, local plumbing
Prediction market prices are global. The same question, the same price, whoever is looking at it. What changes country to country is everything around the trade: whether the service is available, how money moves, and which currency you hold.
What is the same everywhere
- The questions. Football, politics, entertainment, economics, global news.
- The pricing. A price is a probability, and it reads identically in any currency.
- Early cash-out. Closing a position before settlement is not a regional feature.
- Rewards. Activity Points are the only reward currency, and they work the same wherever you are.
What differs
Availability. Event-trading and financial rules are national, and they change. Some countries are fully supported, some are restricted, and that can move over time. Where a feature is unavailable where you are, the app says so rather than letting you get halfway through.
Currency and funding. On Tradebanta, every account holds a Naira (NGN) wallet and a US Dollar (USD) wallet.
- Nigeria: fund the Naira wallet by bank transfer, trade in Naira, withdraw to a Nigerian bank account after an identity check.
- Elsewhere: the USD wallet is the practical route, keeping prices comparable across borders.
Identity checks. Verification requirements track the payment rail, not the trading. A Naira withdrawal needs a verified bank account in your own name; that is what stops anyone else moving money out of your account.
Which markets feel liquid. Local interest concentrates attention. Nigerian football and politics trade actively because a lot of informed people care; the same is true of each region's own subjects.
Before you fund an account anywhere
1. Check what applies where you live. This is your responsibility, and rules change. 2. Check which wallet you can realistically fund from your bank. 3. Read the settlement terms of any market before taking a side. 4. Start small. Learn how a position behaves before size becomes a factor.
Where the edge is
Your advantage is almost always local. You know your league, your politics, your culture — and global models do not. The most profitable habit is not trading more markets; it is trading the handful where your information is genuinely better than the crowd's.
Risk
You can lose your stake in any country. Trade money you can afford to risk and use the responsible-trading controls when you want limits rather than willpower.
